  1. 1Confirm this wall on the slab: 9′-10″. Floor-to-joist 8′-0″. Cut studs 7′-7 1/2″ (shortest height minus three plates).
  2. 2Cut a matched pair of plates 9′-10″: pressure-treated bottom, SPF top. Crown the top the same way. Mark B / T and an arrow on the start end.
  3. 3Pair the plates and mark from the start end. Ends at 0″ and 9′-8 1/2″. kings at 5′-8 1/4″, 9′-3/4″. jacks at 5′-9 3/4″, 8′-11 1/4″. layout X at 1′-4″, 2′-8″, 4′-0″, 5′-4″, 6′-8″, 8′-0″, 9′-4″. far end 9′-10″..
  4. 4Door RO 3′-0″ × 6′-10″ at 5′-11 1/4″ from start. Kings at 5′-8 1/4″ and 9′-3/4″; jacks at 5′-9 3/4″ and 8′-11 1/4″. Header 2-2x6, crown up.

  8. 8Plumb both faces. Fasten the remaining Tapcons — 4 total, 4′ OC. String the long walls before you call them done.
  9. 9Cap with the second top plate. Lap onto the neighboring walls. Slide ½″ drywall draftstop above the plate, tight to the joists.
  10. 10After the wall is plumbed and fastened, cut the bottom plate out of each doorway. Leave a clean RO.
